Barrel Race for a Cure

Inspiring Stories

Cheryl Larimore

Good morning fellow barrel racers!    I lost my beloved mother to breast cancer which quickly metastasized to her brain and bones.  My cousin in London, England was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was 7 months pregnant which was April of 2007, the same month my mother died.  Thankfully, she gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and both are doing fine, and Rebecca is presently in remission.  Right now, one of my best friends and a fellow counselor (Blackbear Bosin) is facing a radical double mastectomy and additional chemotherapy.  Her name is Patti Minton and she is just a wonderful friend.  She was just about to celebrate her two-year success anniversary when the cancer returned.  And I am just as sure that many of you have have loved ones and/or friends who have been affected by this terrible killer.

Wichita Middle School counselors have formed a team and appropriately named the team “Bosom Buddies”.  We are raising money for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure which will be September 26, coincidentally my daughter Dawn's  birthday.  I would appreciate it if you would visit my home page (below) and contribute to this worthwhile cause.  Thank you!

Dear Friends and Family,
I recently accepted the challenge to raise funds to support the 2009 Komen Wichita Race for the Cure® on September 26, 2009 in the fight against breast cancer. One in eight women will be stricken with breast cancer in her lifetime and the more we raise, the more the Mid Kansas Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure can give back to fund vital breast cancer education, screening and treatment programs in our own community and support the national search for a cure.

Click here to visit my personal page and pledge your support.

Please join me in the fight by pledging in support of my participation in the Race or contributing generously to the 2009 Komen Wichita Race for the Cure®. Your tax-deductible contribution will fund innovative outreach and awareness programs for medically underserved communities in the Mid Kansas area and national breast cancer research. It is faster and easier than ever to support this great cause - you can make a donation online by simply clicking on the link at the bottom of this message. If you would prefer, you can also send your tax-deductible contribution to the address listed below. Whatever you can give will help! I truly appreciate your support and will keep you posted on my progress.
Thank you so much for your time and support in the fight against breast cancer! Every step counts!
Sincerely,
Cheryl Larimore
